When people see this recipe, they laugh and say these could never – ever – taste like French Fries.
Well, they say that until they make this recipe one time.
Then they begin to smile at how good these are.
I’ve been told they taste exactly like McDonald’s fries.
I’ll let you be the judge.
Make them and tell me what you think!
Ingredients
- 1 cup blanched almond flour makes for a lighter french fry
- 1/2 cup coconut flour if you are allergic use all almond flour but this tastes better
- 6 tsp xanthan gum this thickens it to hold its shape
- 1 cup boiling water
- popcorn salt finely ground salt
Instructions
-
mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl and mix well
-
add the hot water and mix until completely smooth
-
take mixture and put on parchment paper and roll out the dough until it's about 1/4 inch in thickness
-
cut the dough into really thin strips (think McDonald's fries)
-
fry in hot olive or avocado oil
-
turn fries during cooking so all sides are evenly cooked.
-
drain the oil by putting the cooked fries on a plate with paper towels on it
-
Serve with my ketchup! See below for recipe.
